Email apps

Set up Thunderbird

Add your Mail by vizsu address to Thunderbird, automatically with autoconfig or manually with IMAP and SMTP.

Thunderbird setup in five steps: new account with name, address and app password, configure manually, IMAP mail.vizsu.com 993 SSL/TLS, SMTP mail.vizsu.com 465 SSL/TLS, re-test with normal password authentication and finish.
Thunderbird setup at a glance.
Before you start, create an app password in webmail under Settings → Password & security. Your vizsu account password does not work in email apps.

Steps

  1. Open Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account (or the ☰ menu → New Account → Email).
  2. Enter your name, full email address and the app password, then Continue.
  3. If your domain has the autoconfig record, Thunderbird finds the settings. Check they show IMAP on 993 and SMTP on 465, then Done.
  4. Otherwise choose Configure manually and enter the settings below. Authentication: Normal password.

Settings

Incoming (IMAP)mail.vizsu.com993SSL/TLS
Outgoing (SMTP)mail.vizsu.com465SSL/TLS
Outgoing, alternativemail.vizsu.com587STARTTLS

Troubleshooting

  • Authentication failed: the username must be your full address and the password an app password. Create a new one if unsure.
  • Can't send: make sure the outgoing server requires sign-in with the same username and password. If port 465 is blocked on your network, use 587 with STARTTLS.
