Migration

Import and export mail

Bring mail from Google, Microsoft 365 or any IMAP server, upload PST/mbox/eml files, bulk import by CSV, export a mailbox and switch MX.

Imports run in the background from Imports. Create the destination users first. You can follow progress and cancel a running job. Import sources can be switched off per account, so you may not see all of them.

From any IMAP server

Enter the old server's host, port, security, username and password. Folders, read/answered flags and dates are kept. You can import selected folders and later run an incremental import to pick up only new messages.

Google Workspace or Gmail

Use the Google option, or the IMAP import with host imap.gmail.com, port 993, SSL. Google requires an app password (with 2-step verification on) or IMAP enabled by your admin. Gmail labels arrive as folders; duplicate views like All Mail, Important and Starred are skipped.

Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com

Use the Microsoft option, or the IMAP import with host outlook.office365.com, port 993, SSL, if IMAP is enabled. Otherwise export a .pst from Outlook and upload it.

File upload

Upload .pst, .mbox, .eml, or a .zip of these into a mailbox, up to 2 GB per file.

Many mailboxes at once (CSV)

On the Imports page, download the CSV template, fill one row per mailbox (up to 500 rows) and upload it to start IMAP imports for all of them.

Export a mailbox

On the user's Import/Export tab, start an export. Exports are mbox files; the download link lasts 24 hours.

MX cutover

  1. Verify the domain and add SPF and DKIM, but leave the old MX in place.
  2. Create users and run a first import.
  3. Lower the MX record's TTL a day ahead if your provider allows.
  4. Switch MX to mail.vizsu.com and remove the old MX records.
  5. After 24–48 hours, run an incremental import to catch mail that reached the old server.
